Neutrino – The Poet Among The Elementary Particles - English subtitled
In this poetic-philosophical documentary, the invisible quantum world and tangible reality come together in encounters with colourful scientists and Japanese villagers.
The Super-Kamiokande Neutrino Detector is located at a depth of more than a thousand meters in the Japanese mountain Ikeno-yama. This detector is designed for the physical study of the neutrino – an elementary particle that may explain the origin of the universe. International scientists live and work in the mountain village together with the local population and their spiritual leaders. The documentary starts as a personal journey of discovery into physical knowledge and grows into a universal existential quest.
This is a satellite screening of the InScience film festival and a collaboration with Studium Generale Maastricht.
The documentary will be introduced by Prof. Patrick Decowski, Professor of Physics at the University of Amsterdam and affiliated with the Institute for Subatomic Physics Nikhef. After the movie, there's a Q&A with the directors and Patrick Decowski. Evidently, there's also room for audience questions.
