Poetic, magical-realistic film about a young linguist who travels to a small village in the jungle of Mexico to study the last living speakers of a dying language.
The reason for the death of the language? Two villagers, the last elder speakers of the dying tongue, haven’t spoken to each other for fifty years, and aren’t to start now. While the linguist attempts to bring Isauro and Evaristo together, he finds out a big secret.
The premise of the film is as follows: when a language dies out, a unique vision of the world is lost forever. Food for thought, served by the Mexican Ernesto Contreras and his brother, Carlos, who wrote the scenario. In 2017 the film won the World Cinema Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
