How far would you go to survive? In 1972, Flight 571 crashes in the Andes Mountains, carrying a Uruguayan rugby team. Out of 45 passengers, 29 survive the crash. However, their struggle is far from over. Stranded alone on an icy mountaintop, the survivors confront harsh conditions and the ruthless climate.

The plane crash garnered widespread media coverage; dozens of books have been written about it, and the tragedy has been adapted multiple times, both in documentary and fiction formats. J.A. Bayona's SOCIETY OF THE SNOW is not a factual reconstruction but a film that focuses on the human side of the story. Breathtaking action scenes, partly filmed at the actual crash site, alternate with dialogues about the value of life and ethical dilemmas. This makes SOCIETY OF THE SNOW not only a chillingly realistic portrayal of the disaster but also the most humane rendition of this incredible story to date.
