Haunting drama about the young Turkish man Can, who returns to his hometown for his father's funeral but is unable to leave.
Can is back in town for his father's funeral. Here he witnesses a murder. After testifying, the police won't let him leave. Strange events and ditto acquaintances of his father’s accumulate and to make matters worse, a quarantine is declared because of rabid dogs. As the city turns into a labyrinthine purgatory, Can slowly descends into a state of madness.
Turkish director Tayfun Pirselimoğlu is a multi-talented artist: he paints, writes and directs. Revered for his surrealist exercises, with KERR he adapts one of his own novels for the first time. Originally published in 2014, Pirselimoğlu speaks to fluctuating meanings and subtexts in this contemporary adaptation of a Kafkaesque black comedy. His first step as a filmmaker is quite a success, as this noteworthy debut was noticed even in the most prestigious circles of the global film industry: KERR was the Turkish entry for the 2023 Oscars.
