Grimm re-edit is the result of a new montage with new images, sound and music. The modern fairy tale starts as a variation on Hansel and Gretel and gradually turns into a road movie, thriller and western. Key players Jacob Derwig and Halina Reijn are left behind by their poor father in the forest with the instruction to move to their uncle in Spain. Once there, Marie falls in love with a rich surgeon who lives together with his silent sister. There seems to be no room for Jacob anymore.

Film and theater maker, writer and painter Alex van Warmerdam is without a doubt one of the most important film makers in the Netherlands. Many of his films were praised and awarded a Golden Calf, including ABEL, DE NOORDERLINGEN, OBER and THE LAST DAYS OF EMMA BLANK. Van Warmerdam also received international acclaim, for example when BORGMAN was selected for the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, and received a standing ovation.

Alex van Warmerdam, Netherlands, 2019, 90 min. Dutch spoken, without subtitles. With Jacob Derwig en Halina Reijn.
