Wolf
It was all over the Dutch media: the wolf is back in the Netherlands. Special nature documentary about the return of the wolf, with a voice-over by Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.
During the making of the three-part TV series DE TERUGKEER VAN DE IJSVOGEL - BEVER - TORENVALK Cees van Kempen realized that another, very special return was imminent. One hundred and fifty years after the wolf had disappeared from the Netherlands, this predator returned to our little country. The first pack formation took place in 2019 and since then the wolf has once again become a permanent resident of the Veluwe. The return of the wolf was celebrated as a crowning achievement of the nature policy of the past decades, albeit that the return of the wolf also poses new problems.
Even before a first pair of wolves had finally settled in the Netherlands, van Kempen was ready to start filming. Van Kempen and his team spent more than a thousand days in the forests of the Netherlands, which was rewarded with stunning footage of the notoriously shy wolves.
WOLF was made with the support of IFAW, a foundation that works worldwide for constructive solutions to conflicts between people and animals. Through ‘Wolves in the Netherlands’, the foundation is committed to facilitating the return of the wolf to the Netherlands.
