Agarrame fuerte
A heartwarming, magical-realist film about grief and eternal friendship. Awarded at the Tribeca Film Festival.
When Adela attends the funeral of her dearest friend Elena, she hardly feels connected to the others saying goodbye. The muffled voices, the cold fluorescent light, none of it reminds her of the lively and funny Elena. After the ceremony, emotionally drained, Adela searches for her car but instead boards a mysterious bus that takes her back in time to a weekend she once spent with Elena at a beach house. They read detective novels, rode bikes, and danced all night.
With Agárrame Fuerte, Uruguayan filmmakers Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge pay tribute to the bonds of female friendship. It’s a story of timeless sisterhood, where grief transforms into a celebration of deep connection. The film won the Nora Ephron Award at the Tribeca Film Festival – a prize for female filmmakers named after the creator of film classics like When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless In Seattle.
