Through the colourful street art of Los Angeles, Varda found a brilliant way to look at the social, racial and economic tensions in the city. Various ethnic groups bring their life stories to the public space with these legal and illegal art expressions – from Afro-futuristic vistas to scenes from the Day of the Dead.
The title of the film plays with the idea that the walls whisper to each other. Together with Varda, we discover how this city, the capital of the film industry, reveals itself through its whispering walls.
