The life of Ivy and Theo seems ideal: successful careers, a loving marriage, and wonderful children. But beneath the façade of perfection, a storm is brewing. When Theo’s career takes a nosedive while Ivy’s ambitions soar, simmering competition and buried resentment come to the surface.

The Roses is a fresh, biting remake of The War of the Roses (1989), based on the novel by Warren Adler. Like the original, The Roses portrays marriage as a battlefield, but with a modern twist: with relatable relationship struggles, contemporary gender dynamics, and a generous dose of dark humour.

Jay Roach, United Kingdom, USA, 2025, 115 min. English spoken, Dutch subtitles. With Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Jamie Demetriou.
