Fotogenico
A black comedy about a father who dives into Marseille’s techno scene after his daughter’s death in an attempt to get to know her posthumously.
Raoul never played a significant role in the life of his daughter Agnès. After her death, he is overwhelmed by guilt. In an effort to come to terms with his grief, he sets out to discover who his daughter really was. Armed with only a few vague clues, Raoul travels to Marseille. But the stories she told – about studying law and practicing taekwondo – soon turn out to be lies. Gradually, he uncovers the truth: Agnès was immersed in Marseille’s drug-fuelled underground music scene.
Lead actor Christophe Paou makes Raoul both awkward and endearing – a farcical yet tragic figure. His journey through a world of youthful hedonism is underscored by a pulsating post-punk-electro score by Froid Dub. Fotogenico was selected for the ACID festival in Cannes.
