En Fanfare
French feel-good film by Emmanuel Courcol (Un Triomphe) about two musically talented brothers who don’t know of each other’s existence. That changes when one of them seeks a bone marrow donor. Was a huge hit in French cinemas.
In En Fanfare, the crossed paths of Emmanuel Courcol’s two protagonists raise the question of social determinism. Thibaut is an internationally renowned conductor who travels the world. When Thibaut learns of his potentially life-threatening illness requiring a stem-cell transplant, a blood compatibility test opens up unexpected horizons. He discovers he was adopted and has a younger brother, Jimmy, who works in a school cafeteria and plays the trombone in a small marching band. Everything seems to set them apart, except their love of music.
