Peacock
Absurdist black comedy about Matthias, a man you can hire as professional company. He knows his wines and has read the right books – but the one role he doesn’t quite master is that of himself.
Matthias is a master of his profession. Do you need a ‘cultured boyfriend’ to impress your friends? A ‘perfect son’ to influence your business partners’ opinion of you? Or maybe just a sparring partner to rehearse an argument? Whatever it is, just rent Matthias.
Matthias is so good at his job that it is starting to cause problems in his personal life. When his wife Sophia leaves him, Matthias finds himself in an existential crisis and goes in search of himself. He is trapped in a game and waits, as it were, to be unmasked. As his lonely life begins to crumble, his unyielding façade falls away and he even begins to question what is real and what is not.
Peacock shows Matthias in all his vulnerability in an environment where status is more important than compassion or honesty, with people who are captivated by pretentious art, privileges and vanity.
