Caught Stealing
Crime comedy by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Whale) about a former baseball hero who, by doing a simple favour, unexpectedly finds himself dealing with a motley crew of dangerous criminals.
Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) once had a promising sports career, but now works as a bartender in New York, where he leads a quiet life with his girlfriend (Zoë Kravitz). That changes when his eccentric neighbour (Matt Smith) asks him to look after his cat for a few days. Before long, Hank finds himself face to face with a group of gangsters. They all want something from him – though he has no idea what.
In Caught Stealing – a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Charlie Huston – Aronofsky explores the crime genre for the first time. The film’s soundtrack is provided by British post-punk band IDLES, who also wrote four new songs for the film. The collaboration came about after a chance meeting between the band and Aronofsky on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show. (lw)
