The Saint of the Impossible
A bittersweet drama about the American Dream of an illegal Peruvian family in New York, based on a novella by Arnon Grunberg.
Love makes you do stupid things. That is what the Latino twins Paul & Tito will experience. The Peruvian teenagers are living illegally in New York, where they earn a living as meal delivery boys. Besides money problems, the risk of deportation always hangs over their heads. The teenage brothers think that the loss of their virginity will be the solution to all their misery. Therefore, they pray to the Saint of the Impossible. Their prayers seem to have been answered when, during a hot summer, they meet Kristin: a beautiful Croatian girl. What Paul and Tito don’t know is that Kristin has her own ideas about love.
The film is told from the perspective of Paul and Tito’s mother Rafaella, who has no knowledge of her sons’ romantic perils, and who later tries to reconstruct the drama that has unfolded.
