How far are we willing to go for a child’s health? That is the question posed by director Jan Verdijk in his debut feature film Kind. Verdijk previously won a Golden Calf for his short film Pantser (2021).

Kind follows expectant parents Leon (Vincent van der Valk) and Jaimy (Noortje Herlaar), who are devastated to learn that their unborn daughter has a growth disorder. They come into contact with a holistic midwife (Tamar van den Dop) who promises to help. What starts with harmless treatments gradually escalates into life-threatening rituals, as the couple risk everything to save their child. Leon and Jaimy start to question their midwife’s true intentions – and each other. Little by little, they lose control.
