Snow and the Bear
Ominous psychological drama about a sudden disappearance in an extremely remote, snowy village in eastern Turkey.
Aslı, a young and confident nurse from the capital, is assigned to a small border town in Turkey, where the winter seems endless. The roads outside are blocked and as the mounting precipitation cuts the population off from the outside world, stories begin to circulate about bears waking up from their winter sleep and invading the town. When a local resident goes missing, Aslı is drawn into a mysterious game of local politics, power dynamics and secrets.
In her feature debut, director Selcen Ergun plays with the tension that arises when an outsider pokes her nose into things people would rather keep hidden. SNOW AND THE BEAR premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and has already won seven different awards at Turkish film festivals. A compelling, chilling murder mystery about morality, guilt and penance.
