A Dutch classic, this blood-curdlingly suspenseful and gruesome thriller about a young woman who, after stopping at a petrol station on a holiday trip to France, seems to have disappeared without a trace.

A limited number of tickets are still available at the daytime box office from 18:00h, booking for these is not possible. Please note that this film is in French, English and Dutch, with Dutch subtitles.

Three years after her disappearance, Rex is still trying to find out where his great love Saskia has gone and hopes to find her again. When Mr Lemorne crosses his path, hope glimmers. However, Lemorne presents Rex with a fiendish dilemma: either Rex surrenders to him completely, or their paths separate and Rex will never discover where Saskia is.

For the screenplay, George Sluizer enlisted the help of Tim Krabbé, whose successful novel HET GOUDEN EI served as the starting point for this film. More than three decades after its release, the Netherlands’ best psychothriller has lost none of its power. Stanley Kubrick’s characterisation of it as ‘the most terrifying film I have seen in my life’ is therefore entirely justified. (ms)
