Open Air | Singin' In The Rain (Sold out)
The quintessential Hollywood musical classic. Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O'Connor dazzle in this captivating tale about the transition from silent films to talkies.
Hollywood, the 1920s. Film stars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are the undisputed box office magnets of the silent film era, despite not being able to stand each other. With the advent of the ‘talkies’ – sound films – a new problem emerges: Lina’s voice is far from pleasant. Pianist Cosmo, a close friend, suggests a clever solution: have the sweet-voiced Kathy dub Lina’s lines. What initially seems like the perfect arrangement soon changes as Kathy’s star begins to rise, leading the jealous Lina to spiral out of control.
Film critic Roger Ebert summed it up perfectly: “There is no movie musical more fun than SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN.” With Gene Kelly at his peak, a young Debbie Reynolds, and a series of unforgettable song and dance numbers, this film encapsulates the magic of Hollywood’s golden age. Even seventy years after its premiere, the film remains as refreshing as a summer shower – though we hope for clear skies during the open-air screening.
