Love Lies Bleeding
Pulpy neo-noir thriller in which female gym manager Lou falls head over heels in love with bodybuilder Jackie. Their love affair is put to the test by a series of violent events. With Kristen Stewart and Ed Harris.
In a remote New Mexico town, Lou's life is turned completely upside down when Jackie shows up at her gym. Determined to make it as a bodybuilder, Jackie is on her way to Las Vegas for an important competition. Lou immediately falls in love and is only too happy to help her prepare. The two soon end up in bed together, but their fledgling love affair comes under threat when Jackie goes to work for Lou’s father, a shady arms dealer. Lou and Jackie become entangled in the activities of his crime organisation.
Humour, horror, bodybuilding and anabolic steroids are the main ingredients of Rose Glass’s (SAINT MAUD) second film. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was one of the festival’s audience favourites. 'Thelma & Louise on steroids', was the striking headline in an Australian newspaper.
