Living the Light – Robby Müller
The documentary Living the Light - Robby Müller tells the story of ‘the Master of Light’, the legendary Dutch director of photography Robby Müller, who passed away in July 2018.
Müller worked with some of the major directors of our time, such as Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch, Lars von Trier and Steve McQueen, in the process shooting modern classics like DANCER IN THE DARK, BREAKING THE WAVES, DEAD MAN, BARFLY, DOWN BY LAW, ALICE IN THE CITIES and PARIS, TEXAS.
For this lyrical film essay, director and fellow Director of Photography Claire Pijman was given full access by Müller to thousands of hours of his Hi8 video diaries, photographs and
Polaroids that he produced while working on some of the seventy films he shot throughout his career. The documentary interweaves these images with fragments from his oeuvre into a fluid and cinematic continuum.
