Ghost Fleet

Remarkable and beautifully shot documentary about modern slavery in Thailand. Thousands of unpaid men are forced to work day and night on fishing boats.

Time & Tickets

People normally think of slavery as a part of history. But in the global fishing industry, a modern form of slavery takes place far out at sea where no one can bear witness. A Thai human rights activist, Patima Tungpuchayakul, has led a campaign to help victims from across Southeast Asia and expose the abuses they’ve endured. Once sold to Thai fishing companies by human traffickers, the captive men go months, even years, without setting foot on land, earning little to no pay, trapped on boats in perilous conditions. In GHOST FLEET, viewers follow Tungpuchayakul and her team on a seafaring rescue mission to bring home prisoners who have spent years in captivity.
