Limburg premiere of Fabula + CineTalk with Michiel ten Horn

A crime comedy, with a touch of fantasy, folklore and magical realism, about the hapless Jos, born into a family haunted by disaster and determined to find out what caused it. Opening film IFFR 2025.

Time & Tickets

The rich history of the province of Limburg provides the backdrop for the story of Jos, a strung-out criminal from a family that has been haunted by disaster for generations. Jos is rarely taken seriously by his wife, daughter and friends. When a big drug deal goes wrong, he has a lot to put right and a personal journey begins: why is the world always against him? Especially now, when he is about to become a grandfather, the question seems more important than ever.

Fedja van Huêt shines in the role of the unhappy Jos, as he meets a series of colourful characters who may or may not help him on his quest. In this way, he gets closer and closer to the origins of his eternal unhappiness, driven by the hope of finding a way to put an end to it once and for all. (source: www.iffr.com)
