Bonnard, Pierre et Marthe
Romantic drama by Martin Provost (Séraphine) about painter Pierre Bonnard and his complex relationship with Marthe, the woman featured in more than 600 of his works.
When painter Pierre Bonnard meets enigmatic Marthe, he instantly falls instantly in love. The couple are immediately inseparable and soon trade their small Parisian studio for a large, secluded house along the Seine. But his artistic group of friends has reservations about Bonnard's new muse and fears the consequences for his career. Meanwhile, Bonnard keeps in touch with Parisian city life and his friends such as Claude Monet and wealthy art lover Misia Godebska. The idyllic life changes when he meets the young art student Renée; an encounter that drives Marthe to take her fate into her own hands.
