Amour
Intimate, tender but also poignant portrait of two octogenarians who must deal with the physical discomforts of growing older. With Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva.
Georges and Anne, in their eighties, are highly educated, retired classical-music teachers. Their daughter, who is also a musician, lives outside France with her family. One day Anne has a mild stroke. When she comes home from the hospital, her body is paralyzed on one side. The love that has united this couple for so many years will be severely tested.
Featuring exquisite performances from three screen legends, AMOUR reveals a different dimension to the work of the Austrian master Michael Haneke (DAS WEISSE BAND, CACHÉ). AMOUR was screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d’Or.
