The Stones and Brian Jones

Documentary about the sad decline of Rolling Stones guitarist and founder Brian Jones, whose life ended far too soon.

Time & Tickets

At the age of fourteen, director Nick Broomfield met guitarist Brian Jones by chance on a train. As one of the founding members of The Rolling Stones, Jones was at the height of his success at the time; the world was at his feet. Within the band, however, things were going less smooth. Brian was fickle and often unruly. There was also a mutual rivalry at play: he was attractive and charismatic and the undisputed band leader, all against Mick Jagger’s wishes. Not long after the other Stones asked him to leave the band in 1969, he drowned in his pool.

Drawing on revealing interviews with all the main players and archival footage released for the first time, the acclaimed filmmaker in THE STONES AND BRIAN JONES explores how a creative musical genius disappeared into the shadows of music history.
