In search of new opportunities, ambitious entrepreneur Rory moves with his wife and children from a safe American suburb to a priceless mansion in conservative 1980s England. While Rory is completely lost in his job, Carrie has problems adapting to her new environment. As a result, the two become increasingly alienated and the apparently perfect family threatens to fall apart.
After his debut MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, which was released nine years ago, the Canadian film director delivers another haunting film. The detached camerawork of the Hungarian Mátyás Erdély (SON OF SAUL) reinforces the uncanny atmosphere in the new house and within the family. Arcade Fire musician Richard Reed Parry adds a spooky film score debut.
