Puinhoop
Personal documentary in which Allard Detiger – twenty years after having fled his parental home – has to take care of his mentally ill mother.
Director Allard Detiger grew up in a one-parent family with a mother suffering from a borderline personality disorder. Twenty years after Allard reduced the relationship with his mother to a minimum, the police call him. They have found his mother in a completely dishevelled house, and she can no longer take care of herself. He decides not to abandon her in this state and to take responsibility for her care. Eventually, she ends up in a closed psychiatric ward. In this documentary, she blames her son for everything and wants him to behave like a good son. (source: The Netherlands Film Festival)
