Sensitive portrait of the love between two ordinary Russians who have to choose between their feelings and marital obligations.
In a small town, nothing stays a secret. No matter how hard you try to hide infidelities, the truth will come out sooner or later. This gives rise to a dilemma: to start a new life together or to confess and hope for forgiveness. This is the choice the protagonists are faced with.
For ONCE IN TRUBCHEVSK, director Larisa Sadilova worked – as in her previous films – with amateur actors, which gives this film a documentary touch. ONCE IN TRUBCHEVSK was selected for the Un Certain Regard competition at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
