Krekel & Mierabella
Animation film with a new take on Jean de la Fontaine’s famous fable The Cricket And The Ant, about a creative and musical cricket, and a disciplined, hard-working ant.
In spring, Ket, a guitar-playing cricket, and his band entertain the fun-loving bugs. Meanwhile, Antoinette, heiress of a nearby anthill, is hard at work. In her world, music is forbidden; she leads a boring, hardworking existence. When Antoinette finds out that crickets cannot survive the winter, she tries to warn them, but they pay no attention to her. But the crickets do take action when Antoinette is kidnapped by the villain Antheodor, who wants to rule over the ants. Led by Cricket, the crickets come to Antoinette’s aid.
The fable of THE CRICKET AND THE ANT is more than 2,500 years old and asks the question of what is the right way to live. The film compares the cheerful, creative and carefree way of life of crickets to the order and discipline found in the world of ants.
