Hamid, a literature professor exiled in France, works by day on building sites. He’s also part of a secret organisation tracking down Syrian war criminals – a hunt that becomes obsession for him. Former documentary filmmaker Jonathan Millet turns in a remarkably assured narrative directorial debut. A gripping story of a manhunt that makes effective use of its haunting sound design, Ghost Trail is a perceptive exploration of exile and trauma.
Ghost Trail had its world premiere as the opening film of the Critics Week in Cannes. The film was nominated for two Césars, for best first film and best male revelation (Adam Bessa).
