Een Zee van Vlinders
Documentary about artists Stefan Cools and Sandra van Beuken. Their work shows how disastrous human intervention in nature can be.
‘Lepidoptarium’ is the name of the artistic research Cools has been working on for years. With art and installations, he conveys his wonder about nature to the public. In his work, he focuses on the life cycle of butterflies, because ‘by getting into the skin of caterpillars and butterflies, I become part of nature instead of a spectator’, says Cools. In his artistic research, he collaborates with Sandra van Beuken, who, as a landscape architect, has extensive knowledge of the flora, fauna and nature reserves of Limburg. A special place in the documentary is reserved for the Bunderbos, where Cools developed his love for nature.
EEN ZEE VAN VLINDERS is a topical documentary about the cross-fertilization of art and science. Moreover, this latest project by Richard Dols makes our local nature incredibly tangible.
