Tonio, the son of Leonce, king of the bears, has been kidnapped by hunters in the Sicilian mountains. When winter threatens his people with famine, Leonce decides to invade the land of men and, with the help of his army and a wizard, he succeeds in finally finding Tonio. The bears find the city quite to their taste, but when they begin to adopt the bad habits of mankind, things go wrong.
