THE SEASONS IN QUINCY is the result of a five-year project by Tilda Swinton and Colin MacCabe. In this unique documentary journey, four of Berger’s close friends collaborate on four very different film essays on the Booker Prize winner author of the landmark book and BBC television series WAYS OF SEEING.

Since 1973, the revered British art critic, writer and artist John Berger (1926-2017) has been living in the Alpine village of Quincy. When realised that subsistence peasant farming, which had sustained humanity for millennia, was drawing to an historical close, he chose to spend the rest of his life bearing witness to this vanishing existence, not least by participating in it.
The four parts focus on different aspects of Berger’s life, intertwining ideas and motifs from his own work with the atmosphere of his mountain home, to compose a thought-provoking portrait of a multifaceted intellectual giant, one of the last true Renaissance men.
