Wonka (NL) 6+
In this funny and imaginative prequel to Charlie And The Chocolate Factory we see how the young Willy Wonka became the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker. With Timothée Chalamet in the title role.
The best things in life start with a dream. Young Willy Wonka’s dream is to start a chocolate factory. He has all kinds of wonderful ideas and is determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time. However, he is thwarted by a cartel of chocolate makers who do not want competition.
The Christmas musical WONKA is based on a character from CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, the iconic children’s book by Roald Dahl from 1964. WONKA is not a film adaptation of that book, but based on an original screenplay in which director Paul King (PADDINGTON, PADDINGTON 2) and comedian Simon Farnaby show what Willy Wonka's childhood years were like. For lead actor Timothée Chalamet, the film marks his singing debut on the big screen; Neil Hannon of the band The Divine Comedy wrote the original songs for the film.
