We Live in Time
Romantic melodrama starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh about a young couple trying to cherish as much as possible the time they still have together, but which is ticking away fast and painfully.
They ‘meet’ each other for the first time when restaurant owner Almut hits recently divorced Tobias in a car crash. In the aftermath of the accident, love blossoms. The ten years that follow are full of special moments: from the decision to move in together to the birth of their daughter. When Almut is told she has cancer, their relationship is shaken to the core. Not wanting to waste time on medical procedures that will have no effect anyway, Almut wants to use her remaining time to live to the fullest.
John Crowley (Brooklyn) chooses an inventive, non-chronological narrative structure for We Live In Time, allowing us to experience this couple’s story in a way that heightens our understanding of how memory collides with present experience. Funny, romantic and dramatic moments alternate in a film that proves once again that Florence Pugh (Midsommar, Little Women, Lady Macbeth) is among the best actresses working today.
