Fumer fait tousser (Smoking Causes Coughing) - English subtitled
Hilarious superhero parody from cult favourite Quentin Dupieux (Deerskin) about a dominant puppet rat and the Tobacco Force, a gang of violent, unhinged superheroes.
Quentin Dupieux is the king of low-budget nonsense. Who else but Dupieux would manage to name the members of a team of superheroes after the ingredients of cigarettes: Benzene, Methanol, Nicotine, Mercure, Ammoniaque. To instil team spirit, their chief – a rat with a robust libido – has sent the superheroes on a retreat in the forest. There they tell each other scary campfire stories until it’s time to go save the world, after which we are treated to a succession of cheap stunts in kitschy retro costumes.
Dupieux is never shy of a silly joke. FUMER FAIT TOUSSER – like his previous films (RUBBER, MANDIBULES, DEERSKIN) – is a completely idiotic and ridiculous film, this time with numerous nods to children’s series from the 1980s and 1990s.
