Tengo sueños eléctricos
Brooding coming-of-age film from Costa Rica about the strained relationship between an adolescent girl and her father. Winner of multiple awards at the Locarno Film Festival.
Set in Costa Rica, the film follows Eva, a strong-willed sixteen-year-old girl who lives with her mother, her younger sister and their cat, but desperately wants to move in with her estranged father, Martin During the time she goes from child to woman, Martin completely loses himself and directs his aggression at Eva. When the two get too close, you can feel the heat in their unhealthy, destructive relationship. As a result, Eva balances between the tenderness and sensitivity of teenage life and the ruthlessness of the adult world.
Bathed in a richly textured imagery and soaked in raw sensitivity, TENGO SUEÑOS ELÉCTRICOS captures the thin line between love and hate, in a world where aggression and rage are intertwined with the vertigo of female sexual awakening.
