THIS MUCH I KNOW TO BE TRUE
New documentary on creative partners and close friends Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, in part a registration of live performances of their last two studio albums.
In THIS MUCH I KNOW TO BE TRUE, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis perform the songs from their last two studio albums, GHOSTEEN (by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds) and CARNAGE (by Cave and Ellis). The footage was shot in the spring of 2021, in London and Brighton, prior to a tour of the United Kingdom. Together with backing singers and string quartets, in addition to a contribution from longtime friend Marianne Faithfull, the musicians perform their beautiful songs in the most intimate way possible.
In a way this documentary is a sequel to ONE MORE TIME WITH FEELING, released in 2016. In that documentary, director Andrew Dominik follows the two musicians through a period of mourning and intense grief. THIS MUCH I KNOW TO BE TRUE is something completely different. It shows the two resilient musicians during a much more optimistic period in their lives.
