Riders of Justice
Black comedy with Mads Mikkelsen as a tough professional soldier who loses his wife in an accident and – together with three befriended nerds – goes out to seek justice.
RIDERS OF JUSTICE kicks off with a series of sad events: a bicycle is stolen, a data analyst is fired and a serious train accident takes place. At first glance, the series seems coincidental, but data analyst Otto suspects that the events are interrelated. Together with his eccentric friends Lennart and Emmenthaler and professional soldier Markus – who lost his wife in the train accident – he starts to investigate the case, in search of justice.
As a screenwriter for filmmakers such as Susanne Bier and Kristian Levring, Anders Thomas Jensen is a man of many trades. As a director, however, he constituted an unmistakable style of his own. Like his most well-known films ADAM’S APPLES and MEN & CHICKEN, his latest film is a black, slightly absurd revenge comedy with an insane plot and a wonderful performance by Mikkelsen. RIDERS OF JUSTICE once again outlines that Jensen’s films never wander into boring territory.
