Lumière Jazz Nights: Sonic Hug
With her new project Sonic Hug, bassist Louise van den Heuvel presents layered, melancholic songs that balance between jazz, electronica, and poetry. An intimate and adventurous sound, carried by a top ensemble from the Belgian jazz scene.
Dutch bassist Louise van den Heuvel explores a new musical world with Sonic Hug: layered, melancholic songs that move between jazz, electronica, and poetry. Her compositions and sound are defined by an inventive and creative use of modern music technology and effects pedals. Together with three leading musicians from the young Belgian jazz scene – Hendrik Lasure (keys), Daniel Jonkers (drums), and Sam Comerford (sax/clarinet) – she creates an intimate yet adventurous sonic experience.
Influenced by Scandinavian atmospheres and artists such as Nala Sinephro and Floating Points, Sonic Hug unfolds as ethereal, elegant, and always in search of groove. For the first time, Louise’s own singing voice can also be heard, woven into her distinctive musical universe.
