A pregnant woman develops an intimate bond with her boyfriend’s cousin during a weekend in the French countryside. A bittersweet dramedy about the complexity of relationships.
Daphné is three months pregnant, and on holiday in the countryside with her partner François. When the latter has to leave for work, she finds herself alone with Maxime, François’ cousin, whom she never met before. Over the four days they spend waiting for François to return, Daphné and Maxime gradually get to know one another, offering up increasingly intimate insights into their relationships both past and present.
LES CHOSES QU'ON DIT, LES CHOSES QU'ON FAIT offers a successful balance between subtle humour and universal emotions. The film is beautifully filmed against a variety of very attractive backgrounds and is accompanied by well-chosen classical music fragments. Nominated for no less than 13 Césars in 2021.
