Menacing, disturbing Spanish thriller about a slowly escalating conflict between a French couple and the local population in a remote mountain village in Galicia.
French couple Antoine and Olga are sustainable farmers who have just settled in the little village of Bierzo in the Galician countryside. They set about restoring the abandoned houses to help attract people back to the hamlet, and in line with their commitment to the environment, oppose plans for a nearby wind farm. A menacing atmosphere begins to unfurl between them and their neighbours, with director Rodrigo Sorogoyen (QUE DIOS NOS PERDONE, EL REINO) masterfully raising the stakes and sense of dread.
The true story of a lost farmer served as the inspiration for this suspenseful, brooding and grim western-style story, poignantly supported by the original score by Olivier Arson.
