Pusher - Engels ondertiteld
Raw, unpolished crime drama by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) about a drug dealer in Copenhagen who gets into serious trouble. Mads Mikkelsen made his acting debut in this 1996 film.
Drug dealer Frank finds himself in serious trouble when a drug deal goes wrong and he can no longer pay his supplier, the ruthless drug lord Milo. Whilst the pressure from Milo is mounting, Frank’s desperate attempts to raise money fail one by one.
His directorial debut Pusher (1996) immediately put Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn on the map as a major talent in the international film world. The film paints such a raw and realistic picture of Copenhagen’s underworld that after its premiere, persistent rumours circulated that the cast – which consisted largely of unknown names – had actually used drugs on set. The film’s success resulted in two sequels and a British remake, which, however, turned out to be an overly polished and redundant imitation of the Danish original.
