With VOYA (released 14 November on the Swiss label Clap Your Hands), Tineke Postma explores new musical paths. Together with her Tineke Postma Group – David Dorůžka on guitar, Robert Landfermann on double bass, and Tristan Renfrow on drums – she takes the audience on a journey full of sound and emotion. VOYA refers to “voyage,” “voice,” and Oya, the Yoruba goddess of wind, breath, and transformation, and includes a subtle tribute to mentor Wayne Shorter with the composition A Place Called Somewhere. It promises to be an evening centred around Postma’s lyricism and imaginative power.
