Artistically blocked writer Paul Varjac – played by George Peppard – moves into a flat next door to Holly Golightly. Together they roam the streets of New York and attend parties of the jet set.

The leading role of Holly Golightly was initially offered to Marilyn Monroe, but she found the role too daring and declined. Hepburn – sporting an elegant cigarette pipe and fancy gloves – seized the opportunity to do away with her innocent image. And with success: audiences embraced the new Hepburn, a charming good-time girl with a penchant for millionaires, diamonds and wild parties. Her role as Holly Golightly also earned her an Oscar nomination.
