Atypical adaptation of an English tale of chivalry, in which Sir Gawain, King Arthur's nephew, embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight.

Time & Tickets

It's up to Sir Gawain, King Arthur's reckless and stubborn nephew, to take on the dreaded Green Knight, the knight who has brought many a hero to their knees. To do so, he must overcome various obstacles, while supernatural powers seem to threaten his journey. This makes it even more crucial for young Gawain to prove himself, uphold the honour of his family and earn his place among the other knights of the round table.

THE GREEN KNIGHT is not just another movie about knights, swords and castles. Filmmaker David Lowery (THE OLD MAN AND THE GUN, A GHOST STORY) manages to transform a short Medieval poem into an enchanting, complex film in which themes such as honour, religion, nature, sacrifice, chivalry and mortality take centre-stage.

David Lowery, USA, 2020, 130 min. English spoken, Dutch subtitles. With Dev Patel, Kate Dickie, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Barry Keoghan, Ralph Ineson, Sean Harris.
