Water Tussen Ons
An intimate documentary about a former Iranian swimming champion who builds a new community of women in Maastricht, captured through the eyes of her daughter.
In Water Tussen Ons, filmmaker Faydim Ramshe returns after fifteen years to her mother Farèn, who fled to the Netherlands following the Iranian Revolution. In Maastricht, Farèn now runs a restaurant that has grown into a meeting place where young migrant women cook, learn, and support one another. She also teaches swimming, passing on not only practical skills but, above all, confidence and a sense of freedom.
With tenderness and an eye for detail, Ramshe reveals how care and solidarity take shape through everyday gestures. Water Tussen Ons is a loving portrait of two generations of women, each in their own way searching for freedom, connection, and a sense of home.
