A heart-warming and funny documentary about the participants and organisers of the World Porridge Championships in a village in the Scottish Highlands. Making really good porridge turns out to be more difficult than you might think.

We meet the contestants, judges and the organising ‘Porridge Committee’ – a charming and eccentric cast of characters – in the weeks leading up to the championship as they prepare and concoct their culinary creations out of oats, water and salt. The competition is stiff: will reigning champion, Lisa Williams, the ‘queen of porridge’, bring home the trophy, or will the new generation of porridge makers from all over the world – including Australian taco chef Toby Wilson or Adam Kiani, armed with his grandma’s secret recipe – challenge the porridge status quo and clinch the victory?

Framed with symmetrical compositions and tableau shots that highlight the natural eccentricity of the village and the joyful absurdity of the porridge competition itself, Constantine Costi perfectly captures the humorous moments in this witty, visually sublime slice of rural life.
