This event consists of a spoken word performance by theatre maker Khouloud Zaher and a Zoom interview with Ayten Amin, the director of SOUAD. The moderator for the evening is Christin Höne. Some more information per speaker:

  • Khouloud Zaher is theatre maker, writer of spoken word and performer. She can be seen soon in Twelfth Night by Aluin, a gender fluid music spectacle.
  • Ayten Amin was born in Alexandria, Egypt. From 2009 she made several short and feature fiction films, as well as documentaries and a TV series. Her latest film SOUAD was officially selected for the Cannes Film Festival of 2020 and included in The Guardian's 50 Best Films of 2021.
  • Christin Höne is Assistant Professor Literature & Art at Maastricht University. Her research spans modern and contemporary anglophone literature, with a particular focus on postcolonial literature, sound studies and queer theory.
