Lumière x Netwerk Palliatieve Zorg: The Room Next Door
In partnership with the Netwerk Palliatieve Zorg, we regularly host film screenings that aim to raise awareness of palliative care among a wider audience.
The Room Next Door tells the story of Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton), two old friends and former colleagues who reconnect when Ingrid learns that Martha has advanced cancer. When an experimental treatment proves unsuccessful, Martha decides to stop treatment. What does it truly mean to be there for someone when life is drawing to a close?
The Room Next Door is an intimate and deeply human portrait of friendship, companionship and letting go. The film explores the value of simply being present for another person, especially when a cure is no longer possible.
